Cornwall » St Mawes accommodation

Famouth's small and affluent cousin, St Mawes, lies just across the waterway from Falmouth. The two are linked by a ferry which connects not only the two towns (otherwise 30 miles apart by road) but also the two sections of the Cornish coastal path.
St Mawes is famous for its sailing club and its castle, a coastal fortress designed like its counterpart in Falmouth, Pendennis Castle, under the rule of Henry VIII to protect against invasion from the continent.
Originally a simple fishing village, the steep narrow streets still lend this town a traditional Cornish feel, which was successfully exploited in the TV series Poldark.
Nearby St Antony lighthouse and battery are popular attractions.
